The 9th Annual day was celebrated at N.H.Goel World School with a lot of grace and gusto, spreading the vibrant colours of the globe .The theme of the annual day was “World in Union” which is in accordance with the need of the hour-Globalisation, the world being a global village now. The school was privileged to have Mr. Anshu Gupta, Magasaysay award winner, from Goonj Foundation, as the Chief Guest for the occasion. The honourable members of the school governing body, other distinguished guests and the parents also graced the occasion with their heartening presence.
The programme began with the lighting of the lamp lending the occasion a ceremonious aura which was followed by the rendition of Ganesh Vandana by the school choir, thereby invoking the blessings of the lord of Wisdom.
The Principal of N.H.Goel World School Dr. M.V.Krishnamachari in his welcome address expressed his gratitude towards the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion in spite of his busy schedule. He said that he feels honoured to have been associated with a of such great repute which lives by its philosophy.Speaking about the theme of the annual day he said that it is in proximity with the philosophy of our ‘World School’ which is like a ‘miniature world’ where the individuality of each and every child is respected.
The school report was then read by the Head Boy, Ayush Mishra and the Head Girl , Ananya Pandey tracing the significant progress made by the school in the academic session 2016-17
The Chairman of the school Shri Suresh Goel ji showed his deepest sense of gratitude towards Mr. Gupta ji and also expressed the hope that the students would definitely benefit from his inspiring presence. He also urged the students to hone their skills such that they could withstand the fluctuations taking place in Education and be global citizens.
The Chief Guest Shri Anshu Gupta ji started his speech congratulating all especially the parents for their efforts and support. Expressing his concern towards the problems prevalent in the society like poverty, water shortage, migration of people etc. he said that unless we voluntarily contribute towards the progress of the Nation, we won’t be able to witness any change in the current scenario. We must take care of our planet because we have not inherited it rather we have taken it on lease with the responsibility of repairing it.
Under the theme “World in Union”, aiming at encouraging the feeling of oneness, the most beautiful aspects of the seven continents namely- Asia, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, America Europe, were displayed through the exhibition and the cultural presentations. The theme song exemplified and embellished the essence of the theme for the day.
The first continent that came live on the stage was Africa wherein the students, tapping their feet, danced to the tunes of an African number. Then was the turn of the largest continent of all- Asia. The students of Junior Programme and of Smt. G.D.Goel Block widened their horizons and stretched beyond the borders of India presenting the beautiful Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Eurasean, Japanese, Mauratian and Bangla dances.
The future global citizens of our school broke the demographic boundaries by depicting the culture of Australia through dances, songs and hilarious jokes and rhymes. The students of Proactive learning centre and of classes IV,V and VI showcased their talent through an awe-inspiring penguin dance giving us a glimpse of the freezing Antarctica. The diversity of Europe was splendidly portrayed by means of a song on Europe and exhilarating Polish and Flamenco dances. Finally the ethnic diversity of North and South America was depicted through their various dance forms.
The whole ceremony was wrapped up with a very apt song by Michael Jackson-“Heal the World” which not only enhanced the theme of our Annual Day but also conveyed the universal message of “Peace” and “Harmony”.
The Director of the school Mrs. Kalpana Chaudhary eloquently addressed the gathering. Proposing the vote of thanks she expressed her gratitude towards the Chief Guest and congratulated the students for their achievements.
The day ended with the National Anthem leaving the audience with a lovely resonance lasting in their minds. The entire programme was applauded by all.
